How To Cook Tteokguk

For best taste, add an egg, green onion, and some toasted seaweed (laver)

  1. Fully defrost the soup container.
  2. Remove tteok [sliced rice cake] from package and place in bowl.
  3. Rinse tteok and separate so tteok is not stuck together. Drain the tteok.
  4. Add defrosted soup with sliced tteok into a medium pot.
  5. Heat soup on med high for 10 minutes or until tteok is tender and chewy.  Cook time can range between 8-15 min.
  6. [Optional but highly recommended] Once tteok is fully softened, add one egg and stir a few times to break apart the egg.   Also add sliced green onion.  Continue to cook for another 30 seconds.
  7. Turn off hear and set sit for 30 seconds, then serve.
  8. [Optional] Garnish with torn or sliced toasted seaweed [laver].
